On the Bench
Some projects are already running every day. Others are still being designed, tested, rebuilt, documented, or occasionally stared at until the missing piece becomes obvious.
On the Bench is where those active projects live. These are not abandoned ideas or finished products. They are working projects that have reached the point where the goal is clear, but the final form is still being developed.
MT Server
A ready-to-fill home server system for families who want private cloud storage, photo management, backups, shared files, and other useful services without first becoming Linux server administrators.
MT Server is being designed as a complete software package that can be distributed on a preinstalled drive, a bootable USB installer, or as a downloadable system image. The package would install Linux, Docker, the selected family applications, storage tools, automatic backups, recovery tools, and a simple management interface.
Status: System structure, application stack, storage layouts, backup strategy, recovery process, and distribution methods are currently being defined.
Linux Tech Helper
A beginner-friendly Linux diagnostic and planning tool designed to explain what a computer contains, what it can reasonably do, and what software setup fits the owner’s actual needs.
The project focuses on readable system information, safe inspection, reproducible recommendations, and practical setup plans rather than unexplained terminal output.
Status: Working diagnostic and planning foundations exist. The interface, system database, and guided setup functions remain under development.
Workshop Experiments
Smaller hardware restorations, server builds, reclaimed computers, software tests, storage experiments, and practical one-off tools may also appear here as they develop into documented projects.
Some will become permanent systems. Some will become guides. Some will become useful lessons about why a particular idea should never be attempted in quite that way again.
