The DPD Open Knowledge Library has grown well past the point where a quiet update will do.
What began as a small collection of useful offline reference material now includes three 100-book cases plus a substantial release of U.S. Army Field Manuals.
The book collections are designed around the same idea that drives MT Server: useful knowledge should remain available even when the internet is slow, unavailable, expensive, or simply not something you want to depend on.
The library now includes 300 curated books, organized into three 100-book cases covering a broad mix of practical, educational, technical, historical, and general-reference material.
Alongside them, DPD has also assembled and verified a large collection of Army Field Manuals for offline reference. These manuals cover subjects ranging from communications and engineering to field medicine, equipment, maintenance, navigation, logistics, survival, and other practical skills.
This is not meant to replace the internet. It is meant to make useful information portable, local, searchable, and available without it.
The Open Knowledge Library is also becoming an increasingly important part of the MT Server project, where collections like these can be hosted locally and made available across a home, classroom, workshop, makerspace, or community network.
There is considerably more planned.
For now, though, the milestone is worth marking:
Three cases. 300 books. Hundreds of field manuals. All intended to remain useful offline.
That is a pretty good start.
