Dan Peters Designs has officially moved onto Harbor, the new primary home server.

The website had been running from Edens-Trap, an older Dell system that helped get DPD back online and proved that a useful self-hosted system could be built from repurposed hardware. It did its job well, but the project had grown beyond what that machine was meant to carry.
Harbor Takes Over
Harbor is now hosting the main WordPress website, its database, and the Cloudflare tunnel that provides secure public access to DanPetersDesigns.com.
The website files and database now live on Harbor’s SSD-based Vault storage, while the server itself has substantially more memory, drive capacity, and room for future services.
The Old Server Is Not Gone
Edens-Trap has not been erased or dismantled. It remains intact as a working backup system and still carries the existing Nextcloud installation while the next migration stage is planned.
That matters. A migration is not complete just because the new machine works. The older system remains available until the new setup has been tested, documented, and backed up properly.
Built From What Was Available
Harbor continues the same philosophy behind the rest of DPD’s independent-computing work: use capable hardware, repair what can be repaired, document the process, and keep control of the system and its data.
This is not a rented virtual server or a managed hosting package. The website is running on hardware here at home, maintained directly, with outside access provided through a secure tunnel rather than exposing the server itself to the public internet.
What Comes Next
- Move Nextcloud onto Harbor
- Prepare hosting for Cass’s portfolio and shop
- Add local media and family services
- Improve backups and off-site redundancy
- Document Harbor’s hardware, storage, and workflows
The migration is not the end of the project. It is the point where the foundation finally became large enough to support everything that comes next.
